FDNY Soccer Team who play as College Point Flames in the LISFL

9/25/16 - This week in the LISFL saw another edition of the Glen Cove Avellino vs Port Jefferson rivalry that has been a highlight of the league in recent years. Port Jefferson took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Gerassimos "Mackie" Magoulas. Glen Cove responded as expected with three straight goals from Tyler De La Torre, who scored in his third straight game and leads Division 1 in scoring with 6 on the season.

Port Jefferson have been known for their resiliency throughout the years and Sunday's game was no different. With about 15 minutes left in the game, goals by Elysee Vilsaint and Michael Celentano tied the game at 3-3, which ultimately was the final score. Both teams came away with a valuable point, but not the 3 points that they both were looking for.

Port Jefferson manager Craig Korobow gave this account of the Reserve game between Port Jefferson and Glen Cove Avellino, "Corey Desmond made 11 saves, keeping Port Jeff in the game as Glen Cove peppered Port Jeff’s net with quality chances. Port Jeff played hard and didn’t quit in this very physical match. Down 2-0, Port Jeff stormed back with two goals by Zanetti Alberick. Ultimately, Glen Cove broke the game open with 3 goals in the second half. Port Jeff would later pull to within 5-3 when Jacob Garcia converted a PK, but that was the last of the scoring, and Glen Cove came away with the 3 points." Chris Garcia had a hat trick for Glen Cove in the game. Emanuel Gamez and Eduardo Motecer also scored for Glen Cove.

New York Serbia picked up their first win of the season by a score of 3-0 over Kew Forest. Dejan Tolmac scored 2 goals and Boban Velcanovic scored 1 for Serbia. The Reserve game ended in a 5-0 win for Serbia. Marko Pipitone scored 2 goals, while Boris Papic, Sebastine Matta, and Marko Colovic each scored once.

Real New York FC picked up a 2-1 win over Port Jefferson Fusion in the Reserve game. Colin Martin Jr. and Kevin Cesar scored for Real New York, while D'Andre Baker scored for the Fusion.

The Reserve game between East Hampton and New York Polet ended in a 1-1 tie. Furkan Akyol scored for East Hampton, while Marin Filipovic scored for Polet.

Division 2

Mineola were dominant in the Portuguese Derby with a 6-0 win over Farmingville. Zach Gould had a hat trick, while Andre Cancelinha, Nicholas Maleganes, and Helder Cancelinha also scored for Mineola.

Four goals from Julien Escobar were enough, but John Falidas added 2 goals for Leros in their 6-2 win over SS Cosma Damiano. Ivan Paredes and James Dukas picked up the goals for Cosma Damiano.

Eight goals were scored in total as Floral Park and South Jamaica Portuguese battled to a 4-4 tie. Alex Barbosa, Juan Perez, Sean Johnsen, and Robby Russell each scored a goal for Floral Park. Bruno Martins scored 2 goals to give him 6 in 2 games for South Jamaica. Brian Fontes and Stephen Gadze each had a goal for South Jamaica.

The College Point Flames made it 3 wins in 3 games as the Firemen of the FDNY defeated New York West Indies United 3-1. Thomas Garafola scored 2 goals to give him 7 on the season. Joseph Meagher also scored for College Point, while Pierre Garfil scored for West Indies.

Oceanside United also made it 3 wins in 3 games as they defeated College Point FSC by a score of 2-0. Jourdan Perez and Rich Bellusci each had a goal for Oceanside.

Division 3

Asteras GCC made the trip out east and came away with a 3-2 win over Port Jefferson Fusion. Plomaritis Antonis, Theofilakos Faidon, and Loloci Andi scored for Asteras. Juan Delgado and Alexander Tsirikonis had the goals for the Fusion.

Hicksville American SC made the trip to Queens and they also came away with a win, by a score of 4-1 over NYCD Boldest. John Dembinski scored a goal in his third straight game, while Ryan Reichmann scored twice and Favio Garay scored once. Oleg Martynuk scored the goal for NYCD.

Three wins from 3 games with 20 goals scored and only 4 against is a great way to start life in the LISFL. Kosmos United CY manager Andreas Touros led his team to a 5-0 win over South Jamaica Portuguese. Rashid Allah Morad and Karl Cesar each had 2 goals, and Marlon Saravia scored once. After the game, Touros said, "This is the first shut out for the defense (Ted Lambadarios, John Theotokas, Stephen Georgilis, Mark Reilly and David Villagra) and goalkeeper George Angelidis. The defense has been playing excellent in every game."

Over-30 Division

Glen Cove picked up their second win of the season by a score of 4-1 over Integral Kings. Uri Bach, Allan Maragh, Damion James, and Derrick Planter each had a goal for Glen Cove. Marlon Clarke was the Integral goalscorer.

New York Polet defeated Lindenhurst by a score of 1-0 on a goal by Zeljko Faraguna.

Istria came away from Oceanside with a 3-0 win, with 2 goals from Alija Pepic and 1 from Michele Giacabbone.

Jimmy Velasquez scored 2 goals for Long Island Gaels VSP, but it wasn't enough as New York Hota Bavarians won the game 4-2. Delbert Bourne scored 2 goals, while William Corrigan and Lucas Prochotsky each scored once for Hota.

Over-40 Division

Olympiacos New York continued their slow start to the season with a 4-0 loss to Polonia. Marek Rakowski had 2 goals, while Piotr Golabek and Marcin Dziewulski each scored 1 goal for Polonia.

Baldwin picked up their first win of the season by a score of 2-1 over Oceanside United. Desil Venard and Jimmy Dutreuil scored the goals for Baldwin, while Juan Perez scored for Oceanside.

Oyster Bay Park picked up a big win over New York Hota Bavarians by a score of 4-1. The win keeps Oyster Bay within 3 points of Polonia and Lindenhurst. Roberto Maldonado, Angelo Sarmiento, Juan Carlos Sarmiento, and Julio Marchant each scored for Oyster Bay. Cheiek Tidiani scored the goal for Hota.

Over-50 Division

It was "Mucha Joy" for Mario Gentile and Oceanside United as Freddy Mucha scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Polonia.

Bertram Brown scored for Baisley United, but it wasn't enough as the lost 2-1 to New York Hota Bavarians.

Sinisa Vujasinovic, Sime Bergam, and Tomislav Kadic each scored a goal for New York Polet / Rudar in their 3-1 win over Olympiacos New York. Anestis Apostolidis had the consolation goal for Olympiacos.
