East Hampton FC team that defeated New York Irish Rovers 2-0

10/9/16 - This week in the LISFL saw a repeat of last season's Division 1 Final between New York Polet and Port Jefferson SC. Early on, Polet and Port Jefferson traded goals to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams continued to push the pace of the game and by half-time Port Jefferson had taken a 3-2 lead. In the second half, a tenacious Polet squad fought back with three unanswered goals to win the game 5-3.

Goals for Port Jefferson were scored by Cody Kaczetow, Dennis Bocanegra, and Kyle Campbell. Misin Shala scored twice, while Kyle Schlesinger, Shane Wixted, and Abraham Bartoah each added a goal for Polet.

Port Jefferson won the reserves game 3-1 on a windy, cold, and rainy day. Goals were scored by Jacob Garcia, Melvin Herrera, and Taylour Bolton. Robert Filipovic had the lone goal for New York Polet.

Glen Cove Avellino defeated Port Jefferson Fusion by a score of 4-0 in the first ever meeting between the two clubs. Christian Vazquez had a hat-trick for Glen Cove, while Scott Embrey added a goal. The Fusion won the reserves game by a score of 2-0. Sean Hamilton and Matthew Mendez scored the goals for the Fusion.

East Hampton FC continued their strong start to the season with a 2-0 win over New York Irish Rovers. Mario Olaya scored both goals in the first half to lead the way for East Hampton. In the reserves game, a goal by Gabriel Sima was enough to give Rovers a 1-0 win.

League President Gus Xikis was on hand for the first team game between East Hampton and New York Irish Rovers. Xikis described the game as "well played, despite the difficult conditions. East Hampton scored 2 nice goals in the first half. Rovers played very well in the second half and created a lot of chances as did East Hampton." Xikis added, "we're very excited to have East Hampton in the league. They're a really good club and I was glad to get out here to see them play a home game."

New York Serbia and Real New York FC battled hard for 70 minutes before a Dejan Tolmac goal gave Serbia a 1-0 lead. Real battled back though and a beautiful strike in the upper 90 by Savian Maxwell tied the game at 1-1, which is how it would finish.

In the reserves game, Serbia led 1-0 at half-time before going on to add another four in the second half to win 5-0 over Real. Boris Papic and Milos Kocovic each had 2 goals for Serbia, while Omobolanle Olajumoke added 1.

Division 2

Mineola Portuguese contined to rebound from a slow start to the season by defeating College Point FSC by a score of 3-2. Helder Mendes scored twice, while Zach Gould added a goal for Mineola.

Oyster Bay Park and SS Cosma Damiano battled to a 0-0 draw, which gave each team a much needed point.

Goals by Kevin Londono, Ronney Rodriguez, William Grajales, and Freddy Carrasco gave Olympiacos New York a 4-1 win over South Jamaica Portuguese. Brian Fontes had the consolation goal for South Jamaica.

After a scoreless first half, Oceanside was able to score twice in the second half for a 2-0 win on the road over College Point Flames. With the win, Oceanside were able to get back to the top of the table. Alejandro Yotagri and Jourdan Perez were the Oceanside goalscorers.

Over-30 Division

Istria continued their undefeated season with a 4-2 win over Polonez. Michele Giacobbone scored twice, while Silvio Zucchelli and Dariusz Kaczorowski each added a goal for the West Division leaders. Arkadiusz Jaworski and Jerzy Jankowicz were the goalscorers for Polonez.

Goals by Pete Hansen, Michael Carrozza, and Samba Traore gave Port Jefferson SC a 3-1 win over Lindenhurst. Mike Klettner scored the consolation goal for Lindenhurst.

Baisley United defeated Integral Kings, also by a score of 3-1. Donovan Bernard had 2 goals and Ryan Reid scored once for Baisley, while Mario Hammond added the lone goal for Integral.

Glen Cove were able to come away from Oceanside with a 5-1 win. Victor Avwontom, Andre Barker, Sam Minaya, Christopher McEvoy, and Gregory Messam were the goalscorers for Glen Cove. Omar Saravia was the lone goalscorer for Oceanside United.

Over-40 Division

Oyster Bay Park were also able to come away from Oceanside with 3 points. This time it was from a 3-1 win with Julio Marchant, Juan Carlos Sarmiento, and Victor Escobar scoring the goals for Oyster Bay. Wilson Mena was the Oceanside United goalscorer.

Cheiek Tidiani continues to dominate the division, this time scoring all 4 goals for New York Hota Bavarians in their 4-0 win over Baldwin. It was the 5th straight game that Tidiani has scored at least 1 goal, and he now has 12 goals in total.

Over-50 Division

4-0 was also the final score in Polonia's win over New York Polet / Rudar. Janus Slusarczyk scored 2 goals, while Andrzej Sanik and Tadeusz Weber each had 1 for Polonia.

Baisley United picked up another win on the day as they defeated Oceanside United by a score of 4-1. Anthony Grant scored 2 goals, while Carlton Lewis and Stephen Williamson each scored once for Baisley. Wilson Mena scored the lone Oceanside goal.
