10/22/17 - This week in the LISFL was the first round of the League Cup games for each division, except for the Over-50 Division, which started last weekend. Several teams continued their strong start to the season by advancing to the next round. There were also several upsets as there usually are in a cup competition.

McKim Cup - Premier

A Yahaya Musa goal was all PDB Irish Rovers needed as they came away with a 1-0 road win over Port Jefferson Fusion. Both teams battled back and forth, but it was the experienced Musa with a header off a corner kick that made the difference.

Rovers will face Real New York FC in the semi-finals after they defeated New York Polet 3-1. Gavin Elphie, Darrian Chambers, and Terrel Caesar were the Real NY goalscorers, while Marin Filipovic scored for Polet.

Two goals from the prolific Mosiah Whyte gave Port Jefferson SC a 2-0 win over Kosmos United CY. Port Jefferson advanced to the quarter-finals where they'll face Glen Cove Avellino who were last season's cup winners and received a bye.

New York Serbia will face the winner of the Port Jefferson vs Glen Cove game in the semi-finals after they defeated Forest Park 8-2. The dynamic duo of Boban Velcanovic and Dejan Tolmac each scored two goals, while Milan Terzic, Aleksandar Stanic, Hrvoje Brkljacic, and Ivan Vasojevic each scored a goal. Kevin Davies and Adan Velazquez were the goalscorers for Forest Park.

D1 Hertwig Cup

The Port Jefferson derby went to penalty kicks and Port Jefferson SC prevailed 3-1 over Port Jefferson Fusion after a 4-4 draw. Juan Pallares, Kyle Campbell, Matt Munoz, and Pete Hansen were the Port Jefferson SC goalscorers. Louis Fede scored twice, while Alexander Tsirikonis and Dylan Moser added goals for the Fusion. With the win, Port Jefferson SC advanced to the semi-finals.

A Nqbile Chitimbire goal was not enough for Willie Dempsey and his PDB Irish Rovers as they lost 2-1 to a ten man Glen Cove Avellino. Joshua Sacree and Christian Vazquez were the goalscorers for Glen Cove who'll face New York Polet in the semi-finals.

Polet advanced after they defeated Kosmos United CY 1-0 on a goal by Robert Filipovic.

Real New York FC advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating New York Serbia 5-1. Forest Park received a bye and will be the opponent for Real New York. A hat trick by Jermain Smith along with goals by Michael Kirlew and Romaro Benjamin gave Real the win. Alex Jovanovski was the Serbia goalscorer.

D2 Themann Cup

Anthony Sgaraglio and Favio Garay each scored a goal for Hicksville American SC in their 2-0 win over Oyster Bay Park. Hicksville will face New York West Indies United in the quarter-finals.

Floral Park advanced to the semi-finals with a 7-1 win over South Jamaica Portuguese. Juan Perez scored four goals, while Kevin Powers, Rob Russell, and Justin McDougall each scored a goal for Floral Park.

College Point Flames lost 4-3 on penalty kicks to Olympiacos New York after a 1-1 draw. Sean Morrissey scored for the Flames, while Constantine Mendrinos scored for Olympiacos.

Olympiacos will face New York Ittihad FC in the semi-finals after they defeated Oceanside United 4-1. Cameron Peiper scored twice with Mohammad Yonis and Navid Allah Morad adding goals for Ittihad. Tim Munzing was the Oceanside goalscorer.

D3 Edwards Cup

Guyana Jaguars Juniors made a big statement in their 9-0 win over NYPD Soccer Club. Bradley Nestor, Marlon Benjamin, and Devon Millington each had a brace for Guyana, while Julian Cambridge, Duane Pearson, and Deroy Verwayne added goals.

Atletico Union will be up next for Guyana after Atletico defeated SS Cosma Damiano 3-1 on penalty kicks after a 3-3 draw. John Valente, Matt Sviridoff, and Fernando Filizzola each scored a goal for Atletico. Nick LaMonaca scored twice and Victor Ortiz added a goal for Cosma Damiano.

Pro-Touch Eagles United came away with a 4-0 win over Farmingville Portuguese. Nelson Argueta scored twice with Alex Martinez and Kevin Ortiz adding goals for Pro-Touch, who face Asteras GCC in the next round.

Asteras GCC advanced by defeating Asteras New York 4-2 on a hat trick by Andi Loloci and a goal by Kostas Tatos. Marc Villacis scored both goals for Asteras New York.

Leros advanced to the semi-finals by defeating NYCD Boldest Soccer FC 8-3. Julian Escobar scored four goals with Juan Peralta, Miguel Chung, Jose Bautista Palacios, and Mauricio Zamora adding goals. Steven Bailey scored two goals and Jason Hamil added one for the Boldest.

O-30 Reitschlin Cup

Damian James was another four goal scorer, this time for Glen Cove in their 5-1 win over Polonez. Craig Gordon also scored for Glen Cove, while Jerzy Jankowicz scored for Polonez.

Baisley United will be Glen Cove's opponent in the semi-finals after Baisley defeated Long Island Gaels VSP 7-1. Ryan Reid scored a hat trick, with Donovan Bernard and Donovan Dawkins each adding a brace. Nathan Brill was the goal scorer for the Gaels.

Port Jefferson defeated Garden City Centennials 5-2. Anthony Trapani, AJ Gercke, Lamine Traore, Steve Schneider, and Shaun Sessa each scored for Port Jefferson. Phil Ng scored both goals for Garden City.

Integral Kings will be Port Jefferson's opponent in the next round after they defeated New York Hota Bavarians 4-1. Saidy Fedee and Marcus Julien each had a brace for Integral, with Greg Profeta scoring the lone goal for Hota.

Istria advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Lindenhurst 3-0 on a brace from Sanel Selmanovic and a goal from Dariusz Kaczorowski.

O-40 Gillen Cup

Oyster Bay Park advanced by defeating Olympiacos New York 4-3 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw.

Baisley United will be Oyster Bay's opponent in the semi-finals after they defeated Baldwin 4-1. Corey Morrison, Mesfin Blair, Richard Reid, and Marvin Ebanks each scored a goal for Baisley. Robin Paul was the lone scorer for Baldwin.

Lindenhurst advanced to a semi-final matchup with New York Hota Bavarians after they defeated Oceanside United 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw. Ralph Pecorale was the Lindenhurst goal scorer with Danny Santos scoring for Oceanside.

O-50 DeLuca Cup

Olympiacos New York and Massapequa SC battled to a 3-3 draw in the second round of games. George Moukas, Steve Papadopoulos, and Nick Iosif each scored a goal for Olympiacos. Raphael Ramirez scored a hat trick for Massapequa.

New York Hota Bavarians defeated Oyster Bay Park 4-2. Raymond Campbell had a brace for Hota with Patrick O'Connor and Uri Back each adding a goal.

Robert Bogdanovic scored twice for NY Polet / Rudar, but it wasn't enough as Baisley United won 3-2. Stephen Williamson also had a brace with Everton Grant adding a goal.

Oceanside United lost 4-2 to Polonia. Brahim Atlagh and Michael Connell were the goalscorers for Oceanside.
